Who We Are:

Welcome to Porterfield Nursery!  We are so glad you are here!  We believe children are a gift from God and it is a privilege to be entrusted with the care of these little blessings.  The church  nursery is many children's first experience in the family of God and we strive to minister to them through loving, Christ-centered, quality care.  We are not just changing diapers, we are asking God to use us to change these precious little lives through His ministry!  We use Orange, First Look curriculum which is designed for babies through 5-year-olds.  This curriculum continually focuses on giving preschoolers a first impression of their loving heavenly Father and focuses on three truths: God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Who We Serve:

Our nursery is for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years of age (prior to entering kindergarten).

When We Serve:

The nursery is available during all regularly scheduled church events on Sundays and Wednesday nights.

Regular Nursery Hours:

Sunday: 8:45 AM - 12:15 PM

Wednesday: 5:00 PM - 7:15 PM

Porterfield follows the Safe Sanctuaries policy of The United Methodist Church aimed at reducing the risk of child abuse.  Every staff member and volunteer is required to complete Safe Sanctuaries training and a background check.

Planning Your Visit:

When you arrive, please check in at our computer kiosk stations located at the nursery entrance!  You can print identification stickers for your children at the computer if your family is in the system, or fill out a sticker label for each child if you are a first-time visitor.  When you return to pick up your child/children, you will present your parent label or laminated nursery issued card (first-time visitor) to the nursery staff.  We ask that you remain at the door for child pickup.

Wellness Policy:

Children must be free from fever, diarrhea, and vomiting for at least 24 hours without medication before attending the nursery.

What to bring:

Please send diapers, wipes, and a sippy cup/bottle with your child.  An extra change of clothes is encouraged.  Please send milk or juice with your child if you desire.  We provide tap water and snacks (goldfish, veggie straws, etc.) during the Sunday school hour for children age 1 and older.  Please remember to label your child's items.
